I have an ASIC die I want to take a photograph of. How can I remove the yellowish protective coating?

 As I said, I have an ASIC here I would like to take a photograph of. I have the photography appurtenances, but the die is covered in some sort of yellowish transparent coat. I dont regard if the die becomes non-functional.

 If it is a unformed like material, then fuming nitric acid would business. Be sure to use a ventilated hood and acid protective implements. (This work is best done in a lab where they work with acids.)
If you don't have access to fuming nitric acid, then 70% nitric acid

What is really the difference between FPGA and ASIC ?

 I recognize that ASIC means application specific IC. But what is exactly a FPGA ? What is meant by "Opening array" ? Isn't it also considered as an IC ? What are the major differencies in their applications ?
